ICP Infinity Award Photojournalism 2009 for Geert van Kesteren

Geert van Kesteren is the recipient of the Infinity Award Photojournalism for 2009. He was selected by a committee because of his book Baghdad Calling.

The Infinity Awards were inaugurated in 1984 by the International Centre of Photography (ICP) in New York 'to bring public attention to outstanding achievements in photography by honoring individuals with distinguished careers in the field and by identifying future luminaries.'

Among the recipients of the Infinity Award Photojournalism in previous years are Anthony Suau, Christopher Morris, Yuri Kozyrev, The New Yorker, Simon Norfolk, Alex Majoli and Tyler Hicks.

Van Kesteren receives the price during the The Infinity Awards ceremony on May 12, 2009. Awards in other fields of photography will go to Annie Leibovitz, Laetitia Battaglia, Gayle G. Greenhill, Lieko Shiga, Aveek Sen, Aglaia Konrad, Rinko Kawauchi and Tim Walker.
